Varnishing Techniques and Tools to Make Brightwork Glow. Everyone loves beautiful wood, but not many enjoy the process.

Rigging & Splicing. How to Inspect, Tune and care for your standing rigging.


Jim Starr

Essential Knots for Boaters. Presented by the Cape Lookout Power Squadron. Learn 5 knots: rotate between stations that will have instructors at each station.

US Navy

41 foot Navy supply boat, used to ferry materials to and from the bombing range. Available for tours.


Heber Guthrie

Throughout the show Heber will be making a 14 ft sailing & rowing skiff. During the seminar he will discuss the design, materials, and craftsmanship involved with the building of the skiff. (To be held at the work site tent)


Marina Fire Safety

Demonstration of the Oriental Harbor Marina’s fire cart. Watch and handle the 2 inch fire hose that can spray water over 50 ft. To be held on the Marina’s dock.

Live Music At The Show
The organizers of the annual Ol’ Front Porch Music Festival provide three days of live music during the 2016 Oriental In-Water Boat Show.

Performers include Flat Mountain Dulcimers (Friday, April 8, 2-3:45 pm); Harbor Sounds (Friday, April 8, 4:15-6 pm); UHOOs (Saturday, April 9, 12-12:45 pm); Ken Belangia & Friends (Saturday, April 9, 1-2:45 pm); Bob Jones (Saturday, April 9, 3-5 pm); and Gumbo Lily (Sunday, 12-1:45 pm).

The internationally acclaimed duo, Four Shillings Short (a mix of Celtic and American Folk music) perform Sunday, April 10, from 2-3 pm.
